YIT and BTA Baltic Insurance Company to establish a co-investment for Baltic housing investments
Kauno Baldai, an SBA upholstered furniture manufacturer is starting a conversion project. The company has signed a general ranking contract with YIT Lietuva, a sustainable urban development and construction company. The value of the contract is 18.5 million euros. A modern new factory is expected to replace the old premises in the second half of the year 2022.
"Our goal is to complete the conversion project without stopping the production and in time to implement the company's ambitious development plans and increase more than twice in a few years. Therefore, when choosing a general contractor we valued reliability, professionalism, experience and the commitment to complete works on time. I hope that with the chosen contractor we will implement the project smoothly and according to the planned schedule, ”says Tomas Mauricas, the head of the SBA company Kauno Baldai.
Kęstutis Vanagas, General Manager of the Sustainable Urban Development and Construction Company YIT Lietuva, is satisfied with the fact that many years of international experience and work in the local market are rated with trust and the opportunity to develop projects of this scope. According to him, the 28,000-square-metre factory will not only be characterized by innovative technologies, but will be environmentally friendly as well.
"The construction process itself will be exciting and challenging. We plan construction works in the way that they do not interfere with the customer's production and logistics processes. Digital construction tools iTWO, Dalux and others, used by YIT Lithuania will be an integral part of the project implementation, and they will help to acomplish the project smoothly, ”says K. Vanagas.
The decidion to build a new pfactory in the existing area was made after considering several alternatives. The decision was made due to the sufficient area for development, convenient transportation for employees and easier production relocation from the old premises.
The construction of the new Kauno baldai factory is planned to be carried out in two stages, and it will start operating at full capacity in the year 2023. Upholstered furniture manufacturer company Kauno baldai exports 100 percent of its production to Scandinavia, Benelux countries and Germany. The company employs 400 people.
