Sustainability in construction – why is it important to build the buildings of the future today?
Construction machinery will soon start operating in the capital's Viršuliškės microdistrict. In this part of the city, which is one of the two parts in the capital where high-rise buildings are allowed to be built, the modern 18-story business center Sky Office will erect. Construction of planned energy efficiency class A+ building will be carried out by YIT Lietuva in a strategically convenient location of a 3,500 sq. m. plot. Construction works of the project will be carried out in one stage, their completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2021.
This project for the new business center was created by Gintaras Čaikauskas, the architect of Architektūros linijos. The total area of the building will be slightly over 12 thousand sq. m. A car parking lot with 202 parking spaces and four electric vehicle charging stations will appear next to the 18-storey building.
According to Kęstutis Vanagas, managing director of YIT Lietuva, the new business center should be attractive to investors because of its strategically convenient location in the city and quality standards that meet the expectations of modern companies. The Sky Office center will be built on Spaudos street, next to the western bypass, in a formed new business district.
'The finished project will meet all the needs of a modern working person - convenient location, comfortable microclimate in the building, contemporary and environmentally friendly technologies', says K. Vanagas.
According to the managing director of the company, Sky Office is an ideal choice for companies or customer service centers where young people are employed, who get to work by public transport, electric cars, kick scooters or bikes. A bicycle storage area is foreseen in the building, as well as a possibility of installing showers on the premises of each company for workers who cycle to work.
Segments of two streets with sidewalks are also designed in the territory of the plot. The business center will be built in accordance with requirements of BREEAM Global Sustainable Buildings Certificate, category Excellent.
It is foreseen, that there will be a catering facility for staff convenience in the Sky Office building; a sports club is already operating in front of the future business center and one of the largest outlets center in the Baltics is being under construction nearby.
The Sky Office project is a part of the multifunctional district in Viršuliškės developed by YIT Lietuva. In this part of the city, over the past 8 years, a first in the Baltics A class office building Grand Office has erected that was built by the company, a complex of two identical buildings Duetto, a trade and services building and a residential complex Solo City.
